What Brain Am I In?

Genius Brain and Reptile Brain.

A Workshop Overview:

Working with children (and adults) my Genius Brain/ Reptile Brain workshop includes an age appropriate lesson how our brains work.  Through an interactive format, I teach through modeling and acting as well as lots of questions and answers directed towards the group. This workshop teaches the difference between our "Genius Brain"  and our "Reptile Brain."  I help them to recognize what this looks like in others and then they are able to make the link between others and themselves.  It's animated and engaging and I find any age group loves it.  A big takeaway from the lesson is that we need both parts of our brain to do our jobs as humans and how valuable it can be for the Reptile Brain to help keep us safe from danger and also for our Genius Brain to be in charge of us.  We will discuss and model how to shift ourselves from a state of “Reptile” to a state of “Genius” and in turn and feel a greater sense of calm.

The art extension has participants create drawings/paintings/collages (time depending)  of both of their brains on a side by side comparison.  I like to ask the children what each of their different brains say, how they feel, and what they look like.  I will often add this (per their permission) to their artwork.

Typically the workshop runs about 1.5 hours and includes materials.

Cost varies.
